Purple Heart – pen blank

R37,00

Purpleheart is a dense, exceptionally durable, and rigid Central/South American hardwood (Peltogyne spp.) known for its dramatic shift from light brown to deep violet-purple upon exposure to light. With a high Janka rating of 2520 lbf, it is ideal for heavy-duty, high-traffic applications, but is difficult to work with due to its high density, susceptibility to overheating (which causes gummy resin exudation), and propensity to tear-out, often requiring sharp tools and high speeds.
