- Grain & Texture: Typically possesses a straight or slightly interlocked grain with a fine, even texture, yielding a smooth, durable finish.
- Density & Hardness: It is an exceptionally dense and heavy timber.
- Durability: Highly durable, rot-resistant, and termite-resistant, making it suitable for both interior and exterior use.
- Workability: Challenging due to extreme hardness and high silica content, which blunts tools quickly. However, it saws, planes, and finishes well, taking a high, smooth, and polished luster.
- Stability: Known for being exceptionally stable in service with low, minimal shrinkage or warping.
